The VCE journey is a transformative period in every student's life, presenting both challenges and opportunities for growth. As you embark on this exciting chapter, it's important to equip yourself with the right mindset, tools, and strategies to excel. In this post, we will explore some valuable tips and strategies that can help you navigate the VCE experience and achieve remarkable success.
Set Clear Goals: Start your VCE journey by setting clear goals for yourself. Define what success means to you and establish specific, achievable targets. Having clear goals will provide you with a sense of direction and motivation throughout the journey.
Develop Effective Study Habits: Establishing effective study habits is crucial for success in VCE. Create a study schedule that allows for regular and consistent revision. Break down your subjects into manageable study sessions, and utilize active learning techniques such as summarizing, practicing past papers, and teaching concepts to others.
Seek Guidance and Support: Don't hesitate to seek guidance and support from teachers, mentors, and educational resources like the VCE Motivation Group. Engage in open communication with your teachers, ask questions, and seek clarification when needed. Surround yourself with a supportive community that understands the challenges and can provide valuable insights and assistance.
Practice Time Management: Developing strong time management skills is essential in the VCE journey. Learn to prioritize tasks, set deadlines, and allocate time efficiently. Create a study timetable that balances academic commitments with relaxation, exercise, and social activities. Remember, maintaining a healthy work-life balance is key to sustainable success.
Stay Organized: Keep track of important dates, deadlines, and assessment tasks by maintaining an organized system. Use digital or physical planners, to-do lists, and study guides to stay on top of your workload. Organization will help reduce stress and ensure that you are well-prepared for each assessment and exam.
Embrace a Growth Mindset: Adopting a growth mindset is vital in overcoming challenges and embracing opportunities for growth. Embrace the belief that intelligence and abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work. View setbacks as learning experiences and use them to fuel your determination to improve.
Take Care of Your Well-being: Remember to prioritize your well-being throughout the VCE journey. Get enough sleep, eat well, and engage in regular physical exercise to maintain a healthy body and mind. Incorporate stress-relief activities such as meditation, hobbies, and spending time with loved ones to recharge and reduce anxiety.
Review and Revise: Consistent revision is crucial to consolidate your knowledge and enhance long-term retention. Regularly review and revise previous topics to ensure a solid foundation. Identify areas of weakness and allocate additional time for focused revision and practice.
As you embark on your VCE journey, remember that success is not solely defined by grades, but by personal growth, resilience, and a commitment to continuous improvement. By implementing these tips and strategies, you will be well-equipped to navigate the challenges and make the most of the opportunities that come your way. Stay focused, stay motivated, and embrace the transformative power of the VCE experience.

The Inevitable End: Posted: Wednesday 8/06/22
The following is a reflection titled "the inevitable end" written by a past student who completed the Victorian Certificate of Education in 2021. It was submitted as a part of our student stories program and is now being shared on Daily VMG as a testament to the power of perspective.
If there is one piece of advice that I could share as you make your way through school, it is to enjoy every moment and cherish every memory. It may sound funny, enjoying high-school with the associated stresses and hardship but it is not until you finish that you realise how much you miss school and the order of structure. Every memory, good or bad is associated with emotion, times of learning and most importantly intrinsic growth. Once your school years begin to wrap up you may reflect on everything that you have done throughout your years at high-school. The achievements, the struggle and the growth of character. No matter what grade you are in at the moment, think back to your first year of high-school, back to the person you were and the experiences that shaped you into the person that you are today. For me, I found myself in tears at the prospect of losing a connecting with a place I had for years wanted to 'burn down'!!!
It is a crazy feeling that stems from the relationships and the memories that you create leaving you with a new found sense of nostalgia. You may hate it now, but trust me one day you will be crying in genuine sadness at the prospect of leaving and that truely is the full circle. We worked hard, lost a lot but gained more in the process. The the opportunity to truely enjoy school and make the most of the time that you have left. One day it will all be a distant memory. Much love.

Looking forward to VCE Exams : Posted: Friday 4/06/22
Being a significant through term 2, we begin to look to the inevitable end of the year when our year 12 students will go of to complete their final exams in high-school. Given the instability of the past years, so far 2022 has been a welcomed positive change. Thinking back to 2020 and 2021 we see how truely blessed the class of 2022 has been, having the opportunity to experience a new found sense of normality, which has been lacking for almost 3 years. We welcome this and hope that it is indicative and represented in the results yielded in this years exam scores.
With all the chaos it may be easy to miss, however VCAA, also know as the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority have released the long awaited exam dates for 2022. As we break down the important elements of the provided information we can see that the usual level of change has occurred, this being very little. For a majority of students the most important day will be up first, being the English exam. As always, students will be blessed with a day break, courtesy of the Melbourne Cup.
We advise all students to become familiar with the new dates, which also happen to include the new GAT date, this year being in September. The particulars of the specify exams vary, but provided bellow is a simplified version.
Top Scoring VCE Students of 2021 Share Their Secrets: Posted: Wednesday 26/01/22
The good life, a subjective term if there ever was one, is something we all dream to aspire, but after over 13 years of schooling, hard work and dedication, the class of 2021 are living it. Having experienced the harshest lockdowns in the world, a significant lack of support state wide, constant uncertainty regarding assessments as well as a risk to health attending examinations, the Class of 2021 really experienced it all.
Having completed a major challenge of their lives, it makes the end of their formal secondary schooling careers, left with the friendships formed memories made and most importantly the lessons learnt. Living the good life is not always as easy as it seems but when we spoke to some members of the Class of 2021, the general tone seemed to be one of great relief. Understandably the stresses of exams, SACS and general monotony all at once removed creating a sense of new found freedom.
With results being released in mid December last year, it gave the students the opportunity to reflect on a job well done. We caught up with some of the highest achievers in the state, all of which were recognised on the VCE Honour Roll for their outstanding achievements in 2021. We posed one question to each of these students, "What are you most you most proud of doing during your VCE that allowed you to achieve success in 2021". Given the broad and open ended nature of the question posed it is most definitely reasonable to assume that the responses would be equally as spread and diverse, but to our surprise a clear trend was able to be deduced.
"It's about the work ethic, being able to really look yourself in the mirror, post exam day and say I gave it my all".
"I really wanted to make sure I didn't hold anything back, because I knew within my heart that I would beat myself up about it".
"Look, its easy to want it in February when the suns out, your jumping into new content and the SACS are light and breezy, but when you get into deep winter in the cold weather, it's no longer about motivation, its about discipline and how well equipped you are to face your own demons".
Preparation, dedication and disciple, where the three most reoccurring themes expressed amongst the VCE high achievers. Coming back to the idea that "its not about how smart you are, it's about how hard you work and how much effort you are willing to put in".
Another major point that was raised was regarding the temptations to cheat during assessments. Many students reported that students throughout the state had been caught cheating in assessment tasks throughout the school year and their study score was severely impacted. They reported that in the grand scheme of things SAC marks are not heavily indicative of students study scores at the end of the year, however those who get caught cheating receive a 0 SAC score which is almost impossible to recover from. All in all the general consensus is, do not cheat.
For those students aspiring for greatness in 2022, wether that be academically or in other ventures of the heart, we wish you all the very best, a year to make a change and achieve greatness.
Welcome Back to Victorian Students: Posted: Wednesday 19/01/22
With many Ex-VCE students anxiously awaiting to hear back from Universities across the country regarding their prospect of studying their dream courses, a new generation of students are beginning the next phase of their lives next week. Most notably the Class of 2022 and the Class of 2023, Year 12 and Year 11 respectively. Having started school over a decade ago, this marks the beginning of the inevitable end of high school for these students, who have been building the skills necessary for VCE over their time at high school. Speaking to the parents of these students, we can begin to understand the true toll that the pandemic has had on not only the students themselves but also on their extended families .
"We can now truely appreciate the unprecedented circumstances upon which the Class of 2020 and 2021 completed their final years of high school" said Christian Hill a parent of a student of the class of 2023. With government restrictions relaxing despite covid cases rising, it is within good reason to believe that we have not seen the end of remote learning.
As it stands it is all steam ahead when it comes to victorian high-schools with the state government not making any amendments to the plans laid out for the education sector for 2022. It comes as a welcomed surprise for many parents who welcome this period of uncertainty, especially those who have children starting high school in the weeks to come. The class of 2027, soon to be declared will be commencing their high school journeys as well, with tensions high and dreams and aspirations higher we wish them all the best.
